Warmer Days - Letterpress Adventures

We're in St Paul Minnesota so we really like to take as much advantage of the summer season as possible. This last summer lasted a little longer than usual but now as the fall approaches I can't help but daydream about warmer days, vacations and day tripping across the country. Here's a pics from driving across the tops of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Such amazing memories and adventures made this last year. IMG_3073

Aisle File Feature Wedding!

Woo Hoo! We received an email last night that one of our weddings was featured on the Mpls/StP Magazine Aisle File! Big congrats to Catherine, Ken and the rest of the vendors that took part in this one. Dick & Jane provided the design, letterpress printing and foil stamping on these absolutely beautiful wedding invitations. We can definitely attribute the inspiration to the venue and it looks like Olive Juice Photography did a great job knocking this one out of the park. We're sol happy to see our clients and our work highlighted for the rest of the Twin Cities to celebrate. So much love and appreciation to everyone at MPLS/StP Magazine for sharing this as your Aisle File feature!

Letterpress Printing and the Star Tribune?!

For a letterpress printer, there's nothing more fun than seeing a Heidelberg in the papers! So Letterpress printing and the Star Tribune?! ... well... sorta! We were visited last week by a writer and photographer from the Star Tribune. They we're researching for an article that came out last Sunday. The article was in celebration of the 1st anniversary of the light rail titled "University Avenue, Hopes are High!" The article mentioned our little shop and talked some about what the light rail has meant for us. If you haven't seen the article or are just curious about the new beginnings here on University Ave, we welcome you to visit the Star Tribune and read the article for yourself! Many thanks to the Tribune and all the supporters and small biz owners here on the Ave! - also - my friends tell me this pic makes me look old. .. boo.

Fancy Foil!

gold-foil-invitation We ran these last July but today I was going through some of our archive books and found a couple left over prints. These we're absolutely one of our favorites from 2014. The interest in foil was just starting to pick up and lucky for us, Catherine and Ken we're amazing to work with. We started by looking at some examples but after talking some more about other possibilities, Catherine gave  pretty free rein to "do what we do." The final result couldn't have been more stunning. Gold foil and cool grey letterpress filigree invitation. We knocked these out on the 220 Lettra and finished everything off with a gold painted edge.

Many thanks to Catherine for giving us the opportunity to really knock one out of the park.

Night Moves

We have a funny schedule here. It has absolutely nothing to do with 9-5 or Monday through Friday. Our work schedule is always up in the air depending on what our customers need. I can happily say that we've never been a team to shy away from hard work on long hours but at some point, even the busiest days eventually creep to a moment of perfect stillness and accomplishment. We appreciate each and every client we've worked with over the years. If you need letterpress work, contact us.

Day or Night, we're on it. you can also follow us on instagram for the crazy 24 hour version of our work. @dickandjane_letterpress

Wake Up Maggie!

IMG_0635

Dick and Jane is a family business. Our lives revolve around letterpress printing and weddings. Our kids could probably say "print shop" before they could say "Elmo." I'm sure they hate being at the shop with dear old dad but if nothing else, I do get to sneak these ultra-cute pics of their utter disapproval with me! Here's Maggie still in PJ's after I had just shut down the windmill. One of these days, maybe one of the kids will have interest but until then I guess It'll have to be fussy faces.

Visit Dick & Jane / Please excuse the toys!

Mystery explained!

18

Often time we wonder what happens to the pieces we produce for customers. The jobs can be so different from one to the next.

We received an email from a past client, Jordan Fretz who had us produce a set of very elaborate coasters. Turns out the final product was packaged in pairs for guests and included a pair of individually wrapped bags of tea and honey. Very cool idea indeed! Jordan did a great job on these and we just wanted to share a quick pic of the coasters for all to enjoy.

Many thanks Jordan!
