Dry Brush and Blush

photo 2-8 We labored over what colors to run with on this for a while. Our palletes we're originally in the soft blues and sea foams combined with a deep blacks. After taking more time to look at the brides venues and inspiration we suddenly shifter gears in favor of the warmer tones. We ended with this super clean juxtaposition of a blush dry brush technique applied over a silver ink. The envelopes were also matched using a blush tone paper but for the liners, we went with a higher contrast steel grey. It was truly a labor of love. We couldn't be happier with the results!

INK!

We do a lot of dark colors but occasionally we're mixing up something so delicious you just want to try a little taste. But seriously... DO NOT TASTE INK - IT'S GROSS. If you've got a magical color palette in mind, send it our way! Dick & Jane Letterpress will be more than happy to go all Lemony-Tangerine-Dream with it! Check out our blog and site for examples of our work and be sure to give is a follow on instagram as well!

Fantastic Quilted Invitation

We had the opportunity to create this wonderfully beautiful quilted letterpress wedding invitation a few weeks ago. We started by pressing the quilted texture into the 2-ply sheets with no ink. Then we followed up with a dark grey ink and gold foil on top to really drive it home. It's almost hard to capture in photographs how refined these are. My dirty fingers aren't helping either I suppose! Contact us today for your more info on letterpress or custom foil invitations!

Letterpress Printing On Black Paper

Recently in the shop, it's been all about the silver ink on black paper!  After experimenting with various colors of ink, the silver wins out every time. The silver ink yields the sharpest results... hands down. Silver is considered to be the most opaque color available. Opaque white inks pale in comparison to the luminosity of silver ink.  White ink never prints purely white; it comes out more of a muddy gray than anything else.  So instead, we highly recommend using silver. Have a looky-loo for yourself.

Check out the letterpress blog for more in the near future.

Letterpress Save-the-Date Coasters!

Another fabulous design submitted by Bill Coombs. Bill is a local designer who flies somewhat under the radar. He specializes in Wedding Invitation Designs and creates some really fun stuff. Bubblegum Pink and Navy ink on a super heavy weight 4" coaster stock. These coasters always suck up a ton of ink so we had to add a couple things to the to get it flowing just right. If you're looking for letterpress coaster, let us know. We can do both circle and squares, 3.5" or 4" or custom sizes/shapes as needed!

Invitations - Invitations - Invitations!

It has been a surprisingly long wedding season for us at Dick and Jane Letterpress this year! We just finished an invitation suite as well as announcements for the Brown wedding. The couple chose our Spring Leaf II design in a burnt orange ink on the egg shell paper. All in all, we think they turned out quite nice. See for yourself. - XOXO DJLletterpress-invitations-brown1

Design for Letterpress - Part 3

A quick update: We're checking back in today after a few busy weeks. We've had a lot of great inquiries and meetings with some really nice couples. We also squeezed in a snowmobiling trip in Northern Wisconsin last weekend! We've submitted our plate artwork for the letterpress coasters as well as some additional artwork for a letterpress party invitation we're creating! The plates should show up on Thursday along with the coasters. From there, we're gonna throw some ink on the press and turn these things out! We're VERY excited to report that in just a few days we'll have photos of the completed project posted our blog. xo - Dick and Jane Letterpress
