Nautical Save the Date

Posted this one a while back but it was just a quick pocket phone pic. Here we were able to break out the camera and actually snap a good pic while the sun was out. The rope, anchor and nautical starts went together really well and the rounded corners were the perfect finishing touch. Loves it!

Shout out to Brand Bird for the design!

TCBA Wedding Show Success !

Well we made it through another show. It's kinda funny gearing up for something like this. There are so many ways to present yourself and try to sell your product that it can get confusing. We have always found that our brand will speak for itself. We're normal, honest, young people just like our customers. We understand budget and the need for uniqueness. We understand the importance of the big day and most importantly, we want to do the best job we can for our ladies and fellas. If you're looking for top notch invites at an affordable price, you've come to the right place. Call or email us to book an appointment. I'd like to follow this post with great show photos but mostly all I got were pics of Natalie and I goofing off. We're dorks - Enjoy!

Bird Man Strikes Again!

Our good friend Brandon "bird man" Bird out of Cambridge, MA has delivered again. This time he's created a wonderfully modern blue duo-tone wedding announcement. There are some really great details in this piece including a nice rounded edge die cut to follow the roped edge. Bird's invite work is a lot of fun to produce. Hopefully, we'll have more to share soon!

Go Team!

It's been one of the busiest seasons ever for us. We're keeping the ship on course and even turning out some extra design in the evenings (pictured below). The teams focus and hard work makes me really proud of all the things we're cranking out right now. Many thanks to my wife Natalie, Ted and Alyssa. You're all doing an amazing job.

New Designs

We've been working pretty hard on rolling out a number of new designs. Designing, printing samples and actually getting pics up on the site make for a somewhat slower process than we anticipated. That said, here's a sneak peek at a little something from today!

Letterpress Internships available NOW!

Dick and Jane Letterpress has 2 internship positions available. Internships are open to students residing in the Twin Cities. Please email us with your resume and any applicable links to images, portfolios, websites, or blogs. We look at everything.

General Associate: We are looking for a business associate to assist with anything from client designs to answering the phone and everything inbetween. This role is less focused on production and more focused on keeping this big wheel spinning. Must be goal oriented and swift.

Printers Assistant: That's right, you will assist in printing our projects. Learn the details of letterpress printing, hands-on.  Our primary focus above all is QUALITY. Candidates will have a sharp eye and must be able to take direction.

Birdman of Boston

Yeah - We have a good friend Brandon Bird of Little Big Bird Design in Boston. He does a lot of installation, museum and your everyday print graphics type work. Well he sent us this super cute design for he and Mickie's wedding announcement. We printed it up to his specifics and just had to get a few pics before we mailed them out to him. There are more designs where this came from so if you see something you like, just let us or Brandon know!

Strawbridge Invitation

We worked with the Strawbridge Family on a number of projects for not one but two daughters weddings. This is just a quick glimpse of the letterpress wedding invite we recently designed for Elizabeth. The colors are totally amazing with a bubble gum and strawberry soda kind of combination. Not shown is that the rest f the pieces all fit together like a little puzzle as the bubbles float across everything from the bottom up. In the words of Rachel Zoe - "loves it." Thanks for visiting the letterpress blog!

Letterpress in Gold

We've had a few inquiries in this past week about letterpress wedding invitations printed in a gold ink. I thought it might be good to show an example here on the letterpress blog. I've included a pic below of a project we printed with a gold ink. The result is clean and luxurious contrast. We also have a champagne gold which has a little lighter contrast but still very very elegant. Thanks for visiting the site. Feel free to contact us with any questions!

Featured Designer: Katie Evans

Katie Evans has been involved here at Dick and Jane for years. She started as an intern helping out with all sorts of projects as she finished school. Katie has since gone on to work with a number of other companies offering her unique design/illustration style across the Twin Cities. You can check out her work at hellokatieevans.comWe recently commissioned Katie to help us create this totally jaw dropping letterpress invitation design. Every letter, every line, completely hand drawn by Katie. We're calling it "Love Blooms Eternal". The design was released at the October TCBA Wedding Show in Minneapolis receiving a wealth of positive feedback. We've since begun the fall/winter process of working on a collection of new designs for the Spring season. Katie will be creating at least 2-3 more illustrations in her one-of-a-kind style. Each of Katie's designs (including Love Blooms Eternal) are being added to the collection line up. Clients simply submit their text and Katie illustrates the entire piece. 100% hand drawn, hand lettered, and 100% guaranteed to knock peoples socks off!

Stay tuned. We will post a lot more info on the upcoming designs as we get them wrapped up. Thanks for visiting the letterpress blog!

Four separate pieces were featured in this 5 page article including a letterpress plane ticket, an oversized full-bleed Script sample titled "Hollywood". A customer submitted design for the Lucas' and a wonderfully popular Letterpress Coaster design. Here are a few photos from the article. Visitors from another planet!

We were lucky enough to finally reconnect with some old friends last weekend. Lauren and Michael Crigler (a.k.a. Prank Design) were are staying in Minnesota for the summer developing a CSA with family members and getting their fill of the boundary waters area. Michael and Lauren will be in the area for another month or two so hopefully we will get a chance to see them again here in the next few weeks. We love you guys! - DJL

A Sneak Peek

Here's a quick shot I took the other day while trying to gather, sort and catalog a bunch of our recent work. The letterpress coasters have been super popular as well as the more vibrant color choices with letterpress invite suites. We're gearing up for the seasonal wedding shows so be sure to come visit our booth at your next wedding event! We'll post dates and info as the shows approach. xoxo - DJL

So Many projects ~ So Little Time!

Summer is going by so quick! EEK! We have been slammed over the past few months making it difficult to keep the blog as updated as we'd like. Sonny just turned 2. We have a new intern and a new employee. We have recently finished some really amazing print projects. Took a trip to California. New Equipment and new friends. Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend. Here's a pic or two from the Parade that runs just down our street.

Thanks for visiting the letterpress blog. More to come very soon.
